James Bascand and his team provide investment and portfolio management services to a range of clients including individuals and professionals, trusts, charities, foundations, iwi and family offices, managing investment risk in line with client objectives, to protect and generate wealth.
James brings a wealth of capital market knowledge with six years as a Director on Jarden’s Institutional Sales desk, supporting large fund managers and corporates with investment decisions and capital allocation processes. Preceding that a decade in Forsyth Barr’s research team as a highly rated Senior Research Analyst provides a strong fundamental valuation and risk assessment capability, alongside a host of Australasian corporate relationships.
James’ strong interest in financial markets is driven by a Quality and Growth at a Reasonable Price (GARP) philosophy, with a firm view that value creation over the long term is best supported by profit growth, and that quality factors including the more subjective management, ESG, and Board overlays are just as important as nearer term objective factors.
James is happily married to Stacey, with two young children; Alex and Zoe. Outside of work, family adventures, spectating quality sport and playing social sport, choral and piano hobbies, good food and wine are all passions.
